Verily! We have sent it (Quran) down in the Night of Decree (Lailatul-Qadr). And what will make you know what the Night of Decree is? The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months. Therein descend the angels and the Rooh (i.e. Gabriel) by Allaah’s Permission with all Decrees, Peace! until the appearance of dawn.” (Al-Qadr 97: 1-5)
Lailatulqadar: The Night of Decree, is a glorious night in the holy month of Ramadhan. It is
associated with the first revelation of the Al-Quran, for the guidance of
mankind. Those who wake up at one third of a night of decree and spend the
night performing prayer may fortunate to meet the Lailatulqadar. Definitely,
they will deserve blessings from Allah. During
the night, it was informed that there is no barrier for doa and our doa shall
be granted by Allah.
So when is the Night? This is arguable, however it is almost unanimous that the blessed night occurs in one of
the last ten nights of Ramadan and most undoubtedly in odd nights of last ten
days in Ramadan. It has been justified by Nabi Muhammad s.a.w through his
hadith;
“Verily I saw LailatulQadr, and I was caused to forget it, and indeed it is during the last ten (nights). It is during an odd night”
“Verily I saw LailatulQadr, and I was caused to forget it, and indeed it is during the last ten (nights). It is during an odd night”
We are currently at the end of Ramadan.
Everyone shall miss Ramadan. It will be a huge loss if we let our last ten days
of Ramadan without meeting Lailatulqadar. If we leave Ramadan without gaining the mercy of Allah then
surely we are the most unfortunate ones and yes, we will be losers. Thus, double up our effort for the sake of
Lailatulqadar. For the remaining days, I would like to suggest to all of us to
perform a doa “Allahummainnaka
'afuwwun tuhibbul 'afwafa'fu 'anni. This
doa is extracted from the following hadis: From Aisha (Ra) said:
“I asked the Messenger of Allah: 'O Messenger of Allah, if I know what night is the night of Qadr, what should I say during it?' He said:'Say: O Allah, You are pardoning and You love to pardon, so pardon me."
“I asked the Messenger of Allah: 'O Messenger of Allah, if I know what night is the night of Qadr, what should I say during it?' He said:'Say: O Allah, You are pardoning and You love to pardon, so pardon me."
May Allah granted us with the chance to experience
a rendezvous with Lailatulqadar. Amin and Allah knows best in all matters.
